This wi-fi system can help control your grill from your smartphone via the Traeger app.
This means you can change the temperature, check on your cooking, add smoke, and switch on the keep warm mode from anywhere with the help of your smartphone or apple watch.
Most of the new Traeger grills come with the Wifire technology.
Do you already own a Traeger grill and want to know if you can upgrade it to Wifire?
The answer is “No”.
New models such as Traeger Timberline, Traegar Ironwood series, Traegar Silverton, and Traegar Pro series currently come with the Wifire technology.
This technology is not available on older Traeger models, and the same cannot be upgraded.
This is because the new wifi-enabled devices use D2D technology to operate the pellet and regulate the fan, which runs on direct current (DC).
The older models, on the other hand, run on alternating current (AC) and do not support D2D.
Moreover, older models have different connectors than the new one and since they use thermo couplers, there is no place to plug in the RTD probe.

3 Steps to Know if Your Traeger Has WiFi Feature
If you want to check whether your Traeger grill has Wifi there are a few ways to do so, some of which have been given below:
Step 1: Check the model
Only newer Traeger models are equipped with wifi.
If you have an older Traeger model, or if you have the cheaper version such as Traeger Scout or Traeger Ranger, they will not come with Wifi.
Wifi is enabled for models like Gen2 Pro series, Timberline and Ironwood models, and Silverton model.
Step 2: Check the Control Panel
Check the control panel of your Traeger grill, does it have a D2 control panel? If yes, then your grill comes with Wifi.
Only grills with d2 branded panels have the Wifi feature enabled on them.
Step 3: Check the Official Traeger Website
If the above two steps don’t work for you, and if you are still confused if your grill has Wifi, you can go to Traeger’s website and confirm the same.
They have provided the exhaustive list of models that are Wifi-enabled.
Can You Upgrade an Old Traeger Grill to Wifi?
As already mentioned above, you cannot upgrade an old Traeger grill to wifi.
This is because not only the newer Wifi models run on Direct current unlike older models, they also come with a new technology known as D2D or Direct drive technology which is unavailable for older models.
D2D technology is basically a more refined set of brushless motors that are not only more durable, but also more reliable and powerful.
Also, D2D system works with grills that come with PID controllers that are included in the newer models.

Have you changed your Traeger grill’s WiFi connection and want to switch your grill to the new connection?
Follow the below steps:
Step 1: On the control panel of your Traeger grill, click on the menu option and then select settings, and from there choose the about grill option.
Step 2: Press the ignite button and hold it for about 10 seconds until you see the Traeger logo. This will initiate the factory reset option on your grill and your old Wifi connection will now be forgotten.
Step 3: After the grill has been reset, open the Traeger app on your phone and click on the add wifire grill option.
Step 4: Select your model from the options provided and click yes on the data and privacy conditions.
Step 5: A QR code will be located inside the hood of your grill, just scan the code, enter your new Wifi password and your Traeger grill will now be connected to your new wifi connection.
5 Simple Steps to Set up a Traeger WiFire
Step 1: Open the Traeger app on your phone and click on the add wifire grill option
Step 2: Select your model from the options provided and accept the data and privacy conditions
Step 3: Select if you want to pair via a QR code or without one
Step 4: If you are pairing via QR code, a QR code will be located inside the hood of your grill, just scan the code, enter your Wifi password and your Traeger grill will now be connected to your wifi connection.
Step 5: If you are not pairing via QR code, follow the below steps:
Step 5.1: On the Traeger app, you need to enter the grill name and password.
You can find the same by going to the control panel of your grill, selecting the menu option and from there clicking on the WIFI information.
Step 5.2: Next, you will be prompted to enter the grill UUID.
To know the grill password, go to menu, then settings, then about grill option and then to Grill UUID.
Step 5.3: Enter your wifi password and then you will get the message checking Wifi connection.
Step 5.4: Your grill will then be successfully connected to Wifi.
6 Easy Steps to Properly Use Traeger WiFire App
Step 1: Download the Trager app from the Iphone store or Android play store for free
Step 2: Make sure your phone is connected to the wifi network
Step 3: Select the settings option located at the top right corner of the screen
Step 4: Click on the + button to add your grill to the app
Step 5: Follow the already mentioned steps for pairing of your grill to the Wifi network
Step 6: Once your grill is registered on the Trager app, you can access a number of features from the dashboard such as changing grill temperature, switching between multiple grills, switching on the keep warm mode and so on.
